Awning windows

Double-hung windows

These windows have 2 sashes, which slide vertically up and down in the frame. Double-hung windows can open wide from either the bottom or top; however, they remain inside the frame, so they do not protrude out to the interior or exterior of the home. Only the bottom part of the window functions on a single-hung window, while the top part remains stationary.

Picture stationary windows

They are fixed windows that do not open. They are often fitted in hard to reach areas to allow in light. For clear views where ventilation is not a problem, picture windows are perfect. They create a portrait-like space on walls, thus the word “picture” in their name.

Slider windows

These windows usually open with the sash sliding right or left. Some people find such windows faster and easy to open compared to crank-style windows. Horizontal sliders are a great option for rooms facing patios, walkways or porches. Horizontal sliders are popular for modern style homes and are also preferred for satisfying bedroom egress needs. In a double slider, both sashes open, while in a single slider, one sash slides to open. Double sliders are excellent for offering air circulation, especially if there is just one window in the room.

Bay or bow windows

Usually, bay or bow windows offer you more interior space, since they stick out from the exterior of the siding of the home. They are a combination of windows usually with a stationary window in the center flanked by either casements or double-hung windows.
