      Myths About Eavestrough

An eavestrough will save your roof from rotting and all other problems. The eavestrough is a rain gutter or roof gutter that collects the water from the roof, sloping down in the channel. The channel runs along the perimeter of the house roof. It collects all the water and snow that runoff from the roof. The water collected is later discharged down by the downspouts or the downpipes, taking it down to the drainage system. Your house too needs the eavestrough, especially when the winter season ends in Canada because the snow will melt, and the channel will collect the water sloping down. When installing an eavestrough on the roof, there are some myths that people believe in, so here we are debunking those myths, so you choose the best.

      1) Corners of Eavestrough Leaks

Well, leakage in corners of eavestrough can be a problem in some houses in Canada, but it is not a problem with all homes. The problem with the leakage would be that the corners of the eavestrough haven’t been connected properly. If the corners are sealed properly, then there won’t be any chance of leakage. Or there might be leakage on the surface of the eavestrough channel. When you are installing the eavestrough, check that the corners are sealed properly with the right sloping. When you face the leakage you can call the professionals, they will check the problem with the eavestrough and will suggest the best solution for it.

      2) Eavestrough Can Be Sloped With Eye

When installing the eavestrough, you will have to ensure that it is installed in the right sloping position. The eavestrough cannot be levelled only with the help of an eye. The eyes are not a tool used to install things, and it can give you the wrong calculations. By just looking and guessing on your home won’t be the right option, no house is exactly straight, so the measurements can go wrong. Always when installing an eavestrough, use the proper levelling tool, so it is sloped properly, and all the water collected goes down.

      3) Longer Eavestrough Will Collect More Water

The eavestrough does not need to be longer in length always. The length of the eavestrough depends on the size and height of your house roof. The volume of water that an eavestrough handle depends on the size and the number of downpipes installed in the system. How many downpipes and the size of the eavestrough and downpipes depends on the architectural structure of the house. The structure of a house is measured, and then it is determined what size of eavestrough needs to be installed. So don’t rely on the size of eavestrough, always let the professionals measure your house and tell you the right size.

      4) Eavestrough is Easy to Install

This myth should be removed from your mind before everything else. There are things around your house that you can do yourself, but some things are not meant for you. Such a thing is installing eavestrough, which is not your cup of tea. Installing an eavestrough needs a lot of tools and accuracy. You may not be able to install the eavestrough appropriately as professionals will do. When installing the eavestrough, some measurements are necessary to take. When installing an eavestrough, it is crucial to check the angle, so it is installed correctly. If you fitted the eavestrough at a wrong angle, then it can cause a problem for you. The wrong angles can lead to clogs, or it can damage the channel. The best is to handover the installation process in the hands of professionals.

      5) Maintenance is Not Required

Once the eavestrough is installed, there is not much that you need to worry about the maintenance. But that doesn’t mean the eavestrough doesn’t require the maintenance at all. If you don’t keep a frequent eye on your eavestrough, then there are a number of problems that you might face. If you neglect, then you might find that the channel is filled with sticks and leaves, and the way out for water is choked. The eavestrough can also get hit by a tree and lead to a crack. You will have to keep a frequent eye to be upright with the maintenance.

      6) Eavestrough is Easy to Clean

Cleaning of an eavestrough is actually not easy. It can be difficult for you at times. Yes, things can get stuck in the eavestrough, and it is necessary to clean them. But you cannot risk yourselves, because you will have to put up a ladder and climb it to clean the gutter. You may lose your balance when climbing the ladder, which can result in you getting injured. The main cleaning is needed to be done in the winter season, but the winter times are wet and cold. So climbing on a ladder can be a difficult task, and you can slip due to wet conditions. Better you call professionals for the cleaning.

      7) Gutter Guards Are Ineffective

Gutter guards are actually very effective in maintaining your eavestrough. Gutter guards are the pieces that are attached to your eavestrough, and it stops unwanted materials like debris, branches and leaves from entering the eavestrough and clogging it. Installing gutter guards will save the time that you would devote to clean the eavestrough. It will prevent your eavestrough from cracks, rusting and clogs. This is an effective way that will save you from falling off the ladder. Various types of gutter guards are available that you can choose from.

The myths that we have busted today consider them whenever you want to install the eavestrough. There are different options available for eavestrough. You can choose the one that best suits you. And whatever be the issue with eavestrough, always call the professionals.

The first time I talked to Gord for an estimate... was in the spring of 2018. It took me a full year to actually make the decision to go ahead with the project and Gord was super patient about having to come out and measure everything a second time this summer. He also put me in touch with an electrician who did excellent work with us as part of this project. We had all of our stucco removed and new insulation put up and then hardie board and all of the trim pieces/window finishes done as well. Everyone who worked together to make this happen did an excellent job. If you live in Edmonton, you know that we had pretty terrible weather this summer, but it didn't feel like this project took longer than Gord originally estimated it would take so that was great! I had a couple of questions at the end and Gord was great at answering them and sorted out an issue we had with one downspout placement no problem as well. This commitment to customer service/satisfaction is so important and I am happy to recommend MCM. He was also super helpful when we were choosing a colour and had a swatch book fedexed over to us. Pricing: In comparison to the other quotes I got, MCM was the lower cost option for sure. Based on what the other quotes looked like it seemed like other places were really marking up the hardie board product quite a lot. It was an expensive project, but I'm very happy with it and believe it was worth the price!read more

We have just successfully completed a full... exterior renovation project with MCM Home Exteriors. We replaced and updated all windows, roof, siding, stonework, soffits, fascia, eaves and downspouts. This was no small undertaking on a 2300 sq. ft home considering our start and completion date requests. The project began and concluded as per the scheduled timelines that we arranged with MCM. The quality of the workmanship is simply unparalleled and the quoted amount of this enormous project is the exact amount that we paid upon completion. This is a rarity in the world of renovations and demonstrates MCM's commitment to excellence and maintaining the trust of their valued customers. We have been solely working with MCM since 2003 when we were fortunate enough to begin our longstanding and trusting working relationship with the Owners, Managers and dedicated Crews. We would recommend MCM to those looking for professionalism in the realm of renovations and trades, particularly if you are considering a project but simply aren't sure what questions to ask and where to begin. We would trust MCM to work on our children's future home projects. That alone says a lot about our working relationship. The Auger'sread more
